Services for Families
For many area families, F&CS is a safety net, a new beginning. Our family programs give families the support they need to become strong building blocks for the community.
- Childcare: F&CS' network of licensed, trained childcare providers provide safe, affordable, educational and convenient care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years, enabling low to moderate-income families to become more stable and independent. Operating in their homes, providers offer age-appropriate educational and developmental activities during traditional and non-traditional work hours. For parents with non-traditional work schedules, childcare is available on a limited basis 23 hours per day. Additionally, all enrolled children are served nutritious USDA meals at no additional charge. F&CS' childcare providers also offer before and after care to parents of school-aged children.
- Parenting Education: F&CS conducts parenting classes to help parents cope with issues such as discipline, development, setting limits, and being a single or step parent. Our parenting programs are designed to empower parents to be the best that they can be.
- Mental Health Care and Counseling: Stabilizing, preserving and empowering families. Licensed mental health providers offer individual, couples, group and family counseling sessions to area residents coping with crisis, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse or other difficulties. Payment methods include private insurance, and a sliding-fee scale, based on client income. Additionally, F&CS Employee Assistance Program referrals, and offers a unique domestic violence intervention program for batterers, their victims and children. Hours of operation are: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays — 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays — 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays — 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
