  1. Adoptions and Foster Care — Children grow better families: F&CS welcomes individuals as foster or adoptive parents who live in the greater metropolitan area. Loving, nurturing parents are needed either to provide a safe haven in times of crisis or a permanent home. At no cost to the potential parents, F&CS conducts home visits and training classes to ensure applicants are ready to meet the challenges and rewards of parenthood.     • Over 21
    • Married or single
    • Live within a thirty to sixty mile radius of Washington, D.C.
    • Self-supportive
    • Able to attend training programs
    • Able to pass criminal background check

  3. Youth Development: You can always find a friend at the Hollow! F&CS offers fun-filled camping experiences for both boys and girls at Camp Moss Hollow, located in the Shenandoah Mountains in Markham, Virginia. The 401-acre camp features a lake for canoeing, swimming pool, ropes course, cabins, a central dining hall and an educational pavilion offering environmental studies and computers. This rustic environment has miles of hiking trails perfect for outdoor living and youth retreats.
  4. Summer Camp: Children ages 7 to 14 can attend one-week sessions, Monday through Saturday, or 3-day specialized sessions from June through August. Bus service is provided from Washington, D.C. to Camp Moss Hollow.
  5. School Year and Winter Camp: School Year and Winter Camp Club Programs sessions offer something different for youths and teens from 12 to 17 years old. There are selected weekends at Camp Moss Hollow, in-town cultural events, and a leadership training program for eligible youths and teens from October through January. All programs include educational and recreational activities.
